Scotty's Castle II

In the middle of March we took a friend from work and drove up to Scotty's Castle. Neither he nor Angela had been yet. Here are the pictures.

Portals Monster

And us

Portals

This will be a several post update. On the last weekend of February we went to the Whitney Portals. I think the name refers to:

These rock formations with the holes in them-
In this city of Rocks type areaAnd the views on Mount Whitney through the other surrounding mountains. We also drove further north and saw some of the town of Bishop.

Valentine'e Day weekend

Happy Valentines day to everyone ( a little late now). We didn't do too much this weekend, relaxed mostly. Well I did anyway. We did go over to Kernville for Whiskey Flats days (think "western fair"). It was alright and gave us something to do.
Sorry about the smile I have, I was still laughing about the picture I had taken right before this. We took some pictures of Lake Isabella on the way back.

LA

Last weekend Angela had her class in LA and we will be headed back there again next weekend for her to finish the class. So I just messed around while she was in class. I went to a mall and market the first day, they were pretty boring. We went to dinner that night with the 3rd Gen group and I got an idea of where to go on Sunday. The Peterson Automotive Museum. It was pretty cool. I'll have to go back again after they rotate the displays out. It sounds like they have enough cars to completely change the entire museum.
Ok, who wants to go 183 mph in a 1960 Plymouth?

A shorter trip

This was the first weekend since at least Christmas, maybe Thanksgiving, that we did not plan a long overnight trip somewhere. It was really nice, we decided to have a picnic in the mountains on Saturday. We were headed for the Whitney Portals, but decided to go to Kennedy Meadows on the way (shorter trip). We first drove to Chimney Creek (I think) campgrounds and ate our lunch and found some pine cones and then we drove on up to Kennedy Meadows where there was still some snow on the ground. We explored the area for a little while and left. If the road had not been closed we might have made a loop over to Kernville, but we will save that for another day.
